CHAPTER ORGANIZER: lafayette
Consuela joins our team as the chapter organizer for the Lafayette region. She spent 22 years in prison for a crime of passion. While there, she got engaged in a long list of important efforts. Consuela was a: Advisory Council member, Council substitute for 10 years, literacy tutor for almost seven years, Toastmasters member for seven years, honorary member of the Lifers’ Association for 12 years, drama club member for 17 years, member and President of the Jazzy Jaycees for 12 years, Director of the Higher Dimension Voices of Praise Choir, Red Cross-certified HIV/AIDS Peer Instructor, Co-Founder of Daughters of Christ Praise and Worship Team, and tour guide. She graduated in the first welding class at LCIW in 2016 and is a graduate and former tutor of Office Systems Technology.
Consuela is an organizer, leader, motivational speaker and teacher who desires to help change the criminal justice system in Louisiana and across the United States. Her passion is assisting women and young girls who find themselves in unforeseen circumstances. Her dream is to open a halfway house for women re-entering society and provide resources to FIPs who need guidance and support.
